Probably realizing mid game the tactic of pinning a piece. I’m self taught and don’t read chess literature… so it was quite the “aha moment” I stumbled upon. Now I’m constantly on the hunt for these positions. And then to add insult to injury; capture a piece next to a pinned piece and they can’t capture back because it’ll expose the king. Ya it’s all fun and games until it happens to you… and when it does I for sure say out loud some grumbling curses.
I was thinking today… we all have that one moment in chess a blunder, a brilliant move, or even a lucky checkmate that made the game feel addicting.
What was yours?
Mine was realizing that sometimes the worst-looking move on the board ends up being the winning idea 😅♟️
