Who is the mysterious GM Phoenix?

Hmm... Good point! But hard to say from that!

The Vancouver/ United States reference would make Naka a more likely candidate. But, of course, this is mere conjecture!

Yes, people have suggested him as well, also possibly, a little less cool perhaps, but still epic!

I don't know about this guy here but I have to admit 'honestgirl' is a clever anagram for Nigel Short.

gr8 work .... this should be nigel short, these guys are geniuses !

Please explain? And how do you know if it's not Giri? (honest Giri, the trick of using an l instead of an i is an old one)

may be he did that intentionally OR may be found a better tactic OR may be he decided to not go for the tactic and solidify his position !

Also, getting 11 wrong out of 31 isn't the same for everyone. His average difficulty level for his tactics positions is going to be a lot harder than for a class player.

2300 is pretty poor for a GM though, I've got there in the past.

Equally a good point, it may be worth noting that Nigel Short already has an official accout. http://www.chess.com/members/view/NigelShort

He's only spent 10 minutes on it, give him a break! He proably could do better, anyone good enough to whoop Kuli like he did should be much better whethere he's magnus or not. This guy is still a super GM...
Hey All!
I have a pretty exciting mystery for all y'all chess fans!
So, it's a well known fact that Super-GM's play chess online, but they don't reveal who they really are because they don't want to give other GM's access to more games, learn more about their strengths and weaknesses and so on.
This begs a question. Do the top, I mean very top, ever haunt chess.com's live chess arena?
Here is a blog talking about Magnus Calrsen (!) playing on ICC, it also says he sometimes plays anonymously on chess.com

So, enter the mysterious GM Phoenix!

If you pay attention to live chess on chess.com, you might remember another mysterious anonmous GM, GM Honestgirl. Who is still a mystery!

But back to GM Phoenix. I was watching a live chess game and three titled players were talking about GM Phoenix, two of them firmly believed it was Magnus Carlsen! Seems pretty extravagant to me...
Also something else crazy. Last time GM Phoenix played bullet was on 11/13/13, which was the rest day between games 4 and 5 of the WCC!
Seems inconcieveable to think Magnus would be playing during the WCC... But the games of GM Phoenix never happened while Magnus was playing in the WCC... One titled player remarked that there was no way he would playing during the WCC. But another titled played contradicted him saying that this younger generation was raised on the stuff and it wouldn't surprise him.
I personally would love to believe that it's Magnus, but I'm skeptical to say the least...
