Why almost nobody plays 5+2 Time control in Chess.com

DrPhenomenale

I can't find/play any games on 5+2 or 5+3 session here. 3+0 and 3+2 are too short for me. Either playing 5+0 or 5+5. I'm tired of losing only because of time when i'm completely winning(5+0). Some little increment would be great like +2,+3.  I like rapid(10+0,10+5) but it takes much time and not good for regular play.

The more rating you have the more difficult it is to find games on longer time controls

DrPhenomenale

Yeah its true but almost zero games whenever i try.

Some people don't like increments.

5+5 is more popular on chess.com. 5+3 is more of a lichess thing

I think it's just established like that. +5 increment is a bit too much for a 5 min game. If more people plays 5+2 then it can shift towards to it. Since nobody finds 5+2 game so no choice for them.

I play 15/10 and don’t like anything lower!
ZiLiangMaProfessiona

I don't like increments.

@DrPhenomenale

I'm going to tell you a "back in the days" stories.

Back in the days when I played chess in a real chess club, time control was

90 minutes for 40 moves + 60 minutes.

Ponder that.

Lord_Refa

@DrPhenomenale The increment pool has a concentration of cheaters, for example people who like to consult the Lichess database in the middle of games. This is a shame for all of us who enjoy increment and don't particularly like all the premove stuff.

5|3 is the standard time control for the Classical World Championship blitz tie breakers.
3|2 is the standard time control for the Blitz World Championship.

Neither do I but maybe I'm going to start playing them because I'm slowing down.

i wish 10+0 would be 10+2 instead. nothing worse than having a winning position with little time and losing because you just can't move with your mouse quick enough to win the game.

BishopCannons

Too fast.

DrMaligno12

I like to play Rapid Games

10|5 is more standard than 10|2.
Otherwise 5|3 is an alternative so you do not lose on time in won or drawn positions.
Better is 15|10, which is the standard time control for e.g. the Rapid World Championship.

DejaDeJugarBlitz

Games with increments are only good for tournaments, for online games it is preferred to play without increments.
