Based on your comments, this is outside of chess.com, correct?

If so, add his address to your spam list.

I'm not sure... it's been a long time (4 years) since i took up his offer to take part in a simul, but i reckon his mailing list would have been generated through some arrangement with chess.com...

I added him to my spam list now

He makes money from online chess coaching right? So its basically business spam. His business ethics and online communications seem to have been compromised regardless.

PS have you spammed him back? Ask him if he can play at the upcoming Edinburgh FIDE or Scottish Championships perhaps?

Yeah, there is usually about 10 players from other countries like England and Wales :)

Last season we had entries from Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Bulgaria, Nigeria and South Africa... This season (and it's early days yet) we already have entries from Belgium and Italy, as well as both sides of the Irish border, i am currently in conversation with some other overseas players who have made enquiries, but have not yet confirmed as they need to sort out travel and accommodation

I did personally invite the current Cornish County champion (he plays here on chess.com) but the train fare from Cornwall to Edinburgh is more than a flight from Italy!

noahs_dad

Yeah I was just joking. We also have had a player from Georgia and Denmark in some previous years :)

You'd probably be cheaper flying to Edinburgh via Italy a bit like that coupon kid than you would doing it by train. Heard a rumour Kasparov might be visiting this year. Prize giving?

Of course, GMs Arakhamia-Grant and Aagaard have both played here in recent years, and both spend much of their time in Scotland, so we're hopeful they could also enter this year.

Kasparov hasn't yet confirmed his attendance, so it would be wrong for us to publicise that, for now...

Id like to play in the Edinburgh congress but I'm scared someone will steal my trainies. Maybe I should turn up barefoot, just in case.

Garry Kasparov or Sergey Kasparov?

is that you Mr B. Ivanov ? I think the trainer theft stats over the years are quite favourable and the risk is low :)
