Why are some saying chess.com is killing club chess?

I'm not a club member but I can see the attraction of face-to-face chess. I do make an effort to say hi to opponents when playing on chess.com to remind myself I'm playing a person but 90% don't respond. A pity.

I started out with my chat set to "Everyone". It was often annoying or distracting, occasionally something worse, so now it's "Friends Only".

Besides, "I would never join a club that would have me as a member".

Well some people don't answer due to focusing on the game so they don't get distracted or they didn't notice it which more than 80% will they might not understand the language or they understand and not focusing and they just don't like to chat

MrChatty

I was trying to chat even during bullet games
