Why are some users so toxic?

I am a beginner. I blunder a lot. Sometimes, one blunder leads to the others and eventually into losing games. I play rapid, and the rating stuck on 700s, so the matchmaking will lead me to players not so far in the rating (right?). We are here to have fun, to make friends. But why are some people in this site so toxic. They troll in the chat, saying "noob" or "L" or something like that, while they are not very far better than me. Of course I report afterwards, but does reporting really make any difference? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Send them a happy face or thumbs up. Drives then crazy. Then report.

Noob and L are toxic words? I think they have pretty clear definitions that don't seem toxic. Maybe that's just how those kids have fun. Maybe they have more fun when they see that it gets to you.

But what do I know?

Because the internet itself is toxic.

Just say that you have never seen a camel that can write before.

Just reply something like...just think how bad you must be if the site paired us.

Laugh. Send them pickup lines in another language. Send them pickup lines in their own language. Send then laughter and lots of love. That's their weakness

Why do people not understand you can report people like that, and TURN OFF THE CHAT.

Avatar of GreenMoon07

Or, like others have said, mess with them.

700s players calling others "noobs" xD how frustrated they have to be to do that.

Just ignore it. Analyse your games, each of your mistakes, try to understand why exactly it went wrong. And you will eventually get better. And leave this trolls behind.

And yes, report them. I really hope it makes some difference.

Yea, it's common sadly. Even at the 1800-2100 level when I lose, they say "ezez", "you're trash kid" or "L", and "too ez, lol." They even call you names if you win 💀. It gets infuriating, even if I know I'm most likely older than them. I know not all chess players are like this, and that most chess players are honestly chill and kind people; especially in chess OTB tournaments for me. However, you can't really do anything, and the best you can do is to ignore it, and analyze your mistakes :/

Do you think that Britney Spears is Toxic?

Keep in mind that everyone’s learning curve is different, and there are plenty of players who appreciate and respect the learning process, even if the toxic ones stand out.
