Why are the Olympic and Paralympic flags an option

Countries without anyone who has a chess.com account, like North Korea and the Vatican, I can understand. Mistakes like these can happen when importing lists of countries from elsewhere. But these? I don't get it. You had to make the conscious decision to add these as nationalities you can set yourself as even though there's no way you can consider these countries. Chess isn't even part of the Olympics at all! And yes, this does actually matter because of the passports feature where you need to play against someone who's from these "countries" to get their passports, meaning if you want to fill it out, you need to collect these two bogus countries to compete it. Why????

It's for people who don't want to reveal their nationality

the problem is not with the country existinf and with no real people registered (I dont belive there is real country with no player... it could consider emigrants from that country as part of the origin country.

What I dont understand is that there are here countries regions of other countries... !

I prefer to not give examples but I am sure of one

Flags are cosmetic only. The flag chosen means exactly nothing and those choices are not verified in any way. Do you represent the US in Chess when playing here? No, you do not.

They could put up Pokemon flags, it doesn't matter one iota. People that think it does matter have a screw loose...in the end, flags are mostly only used on the site to discriminate against/make fun of other players, but websites like to engage customers, give them stuff to do, and cater to their leanings, and the average customers are not the brightest blubs in the chandelier...

you dont understand that real war ca start from this flags. there are a lot of tensions between some teritories that are in conflict for ages... Kosovo versus Serbia, Macedonia versus Grecia (about the name Macedonia as province of Greece...and other separatist regions).

In football there were conflicts about neigbouring country that lead to canceling the games and played on commision instead of field...

by a women..yes! Beautifull Elena..

Olympic games in France.. the oppening ceremony was a small step to start riot in the world....mocking about the Lord's Supper with a gay presentation.

I can garanty that if the them was about Mahomed the French would have been in blood. Remember Charlie Hebdo

You are incorrect. The Olympic opening ceremony in France was about Bacchus the Greek god and had nothing to do with either of the topics you mentioned.

Whether nationalism and flags cause problems elsewhere is not the issue, though...the chosen profile flags here on Chess.com are meaningless.
