Having titled players here brings in additional regular players/members. Giving titled players premium for free is marketing.

A second anonymous account allows them to just play without people being able to see what they are playing/experimenting with.

we don't want logic.  we just want freebies.  give!

There's no such thing as a free lunch, mate. Do you know how much time and money I had to spend on the side just to get (or not get) my CM title? Putting the hours in to study chess, plane fees for tourneys etc.. Besides, Chess.com has many great features free, with puzzles, articles and whatnot. And premium membership is very very affordable.

I'm still looking for that provision in TOS.

It isn't in the TOS but an allowance for titled players.

why would they let only titled players have accounts? There must be some reason why they are trying to do it. But i consider it to be elitism. Is it elitism??

Because you suck.

Is that elitism?

You suck too much to deserve knowing the answer to that.

Some people must be new to the internet?

When you sign up for a free trial that requires a credit card, it will start charging you at the end of the trial if you do not cancel.  The vast majority of sites operate this way.

Even if they didn't operate that way...

For example I'd never seen that before... but obviously there's a reason to want a valid credit card. It doesn't take a genius to figure what what's going on.

I guess experimenting is not a thing which only titled players do. Many people like me who have interest in chess also like experimenting so why not allowed to have a anonymous acc.

But you're nobody, so who cares what you play.

Titled players actually compete OTB, and the ability to look up 1000s of their games online means something... but someone looking up you? It means nothing.

Well, we also play OTB tournaments and experimenting should be allowed to everyone with a anonymous acc.

I'd rather be a nobody on the second thought...

Well in OTB tournaments before a day everyone tries to find their opponents id here and check the games.

Titled players aren't anonymous. They get revealed all the time. Recently one guy downloaded tons of games from various players, and plotted their playing time on a graph to reveal which GM an anonymous account was.
