Why do I get positive score in tactics even if it is incorrect?

Whenever I play puzzles, every day two of those puzzles will not reward me for getting them correct and my rating does not change. Such puzzles are also not even recognized on my history as if they never existed. Meanwhile, getting such a puzzle incorrect will deduct nearly 50 points regardless of the puzzles rating. This glitch has caused my puzzles rating to plummet despite having spent so much collective time planning solutions and such just to realize 0 points are rewarded and so much is deducted for innacuracies. Has anyone else experienced this?

Most puzzles will have a max decrease of 15 if you get them wrong. Looking through your recent archive, -14 was your largest decrease

Your rating has also been relatively stable in the last week and increasing over the last 30 days.

Firstly, your first statement is incorrect as a multitude of players can lose up to 35 points from incorrect puzzles and possibly more. Secondly, my history is far from stable and you were likely viewing my alternate account, in which case your comment appears correct. If not, puzzles like the ones I previously described rarely enter my archives which may derive from the glitch precluding me from gaining points from some puzzles.

I looked at the account you posted on, so if you mean some other account, that's not something I looked at.

Also, other than when you first start puzzles, I don't believe I have ever seen more than a 15 point loss. I have done well over 70,000 puzzles here since my last rating reset (and a bunch before). It may be possible to lose more if the rating of the puzzle is a lot more than your current rating and you fail, but that should rarely happen and I still don't believe it's much more than -15.

Wow, looks like a bug

A few people correctly mentioned that this is because the puzzle has a "Pending" rating, as is the case for about 5% of puzzles on Chess.com. You'll know when a puzzle's rating is pending because it will show up where the rating would usually be. Getting a "Pending" puzzle incorrect in rated puzzles will always give you +1 rating. You can find more information here, under "Pending Puzzles."

I am not quite sure what to tell you since it’s very common to lose beyond 15 points, especially as one develops their puzzle rating from a low score. If you would receive a relatively low rated puzzle with a high puzzle rating you could theoretically lose beyond 60 or so points. Such happened to a friend of mine recently, though receiving such a puzzle could be a glitch.

I'm not sure Pending puzzles existed when that reply was made. Though, if it did, it was a new feature at the time.

I haven't reset my rating since 2019. It's possible the puzzles integrate RD into the rating and can result in a bigger change on the first solved puzzles.

I’ve gotten points for no correct moves in the past. I’ve also lost 10+ points for only getting 4/5 or 5/6 moves correct.

Do you guys have any tips to get better at "tactics"?

Don’t accept that move you’ve chosen is the correct one, until you’ve checked even the most unlikely ones, cos sometimes they are the right ones !
