my assumptions..
a. otb you can see your opponent, doesn't seem that strange to do on a social network like chess.com
b. if you can beat me at chess, at least you know I'm better looking than you so who is the real winner :P

Well, I almost beat Computer4-Impossible in a standard-length game, but screwed up somewhere along the way. I blame the stalkers. And StairwayToTruth. He always distracts me.
I put my picture up because frankly I didn't see any reason not to. I'm not worried about an internet stalker (England's a large enough country, and since I'm living in the states it'll take a real pro to find me there 
).
On a more practical note, most people are very visual. Trying to follow a discussion between to random screenames is more challenging than following a discussion between two pictures. So I have an Avatar in general to make it easier to follow any discussion I'm involved in. The avatar is my own pic because I identify myself with me, so it's easy to pick out any posts I've made by looking for the picture of myself next to them :).
That and I'm secretly hoping all my opponents will spend soo much time looking at annie and drooling that they'll make bad moves. But don't tell me that's what you're doing or I'll have to internet stalk and hurt you

Ah crut, I was looking at Annie there and forgot what I was going to type as a response to this. My keyboard's become wet for some reason.
Plus, you kinda gave away your location (I bolded it out for all those stalkers out there to see - I was sure you wouldn't mind), so your little 'England' story has been cracked.

Out of over 150 posts on this thread, approximately 10 actually gave an answer to the original question. I call this thread an EPIC FAILURE. I hope that doesn't reflect too harshly on me! >_<
