Why I'm leaving Chess.com

Why all the fuss? If Reservesmonkey wants to leave, just leave. It puts me in mind of a politician who calls a press conference to announce he will not hold any more press conferences.

"You won't have RM to kick around anymore, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference..."

the truth is he met up with a player like me i presented him with a problem he couldnt solve edward

Too bad. For my part, I love chess.com.

There is never a perfect site; we always learn the hard way.  And as in chess play, when there seems to be no hope left, you see a winning (or drawing) line after some thought...  Cry

I have to laugh.  I put a couple of comments in this forum before, a bit tongue in cheek.  As a matter of interest, I had a look at the RM mypage cos I was interested in how old he is.  I had the impression of a cranky 80 year old who thinks he's had to fight the system and everybody in it his whole life.

Of course, there are absolutely no personal details in there to speak of.

Then I got to having a look at the blogs and posts listed.  If anyone wants a laugh, go and have a look.  What a persecution complex!!  We're all using computer databases to beat him.  The staff on chess.com won't implement his (ridiculous) suggestions so they're against him.  And the way people use 'vacation abuse' against him is a disgrace. Lol.  Anyway, RM is finishing off his remaining 2 games as a courtesy to his 'adversaries'.  In one of them he has already lost his queen for no compensation at all (his opponent's computer picking up on being able to pin his Q against the K with a bishopTongue out).  Guess what he has done?  Yep , he's gone on vacation.  LOL

I had some sympathy for the guy, but not any more.

That's funny. And figures.

Even better, one of the two games he has named, get this,  'Only play if you'll stay online to finish!'  That's what he called the game.  The exclamation mark is his.  LOL

I don't know Reservesmonkey, but please don't ridicule him.

Resrevemonkeys, why haven't you left yet?
erik
it's interesting to me to see people behave online in ways they would not in person...
JuliusH
Erik I think about that everytime I'm on here. I have yet to yell "move!!" at someone while playing. Imagine if some of these forums were instead conversations people tried to start on the street. I think next time I'm waiting for the bus I'll ask someone to say something about cheese, or start a three word story.

I have to agree with mxdplay4 here.  If RM were just a bit eccentric, there would be no cause to ridicule.  However, his victim mentality is ridiculous and irritating.  Posting this topic on a site the rest of us love is as much an attack on the rest of us as mxd's post is to him.  Hypocrisy always deserves ridicule in order to expose it.

I'd like to add that I've never experienced anyone ordering me to move.  In response to comments on the first page attributing the behavior to RM's opponents, I think it is far more likely that RM himself is the perpetrator.

I have, on many occasions been ordered to "Move" or "Faster". They are always rank beginners, and new to the site. This is not a figment of RM's imagination, but hardly such an issue, as to require kicking up a stink over.

Ever think that RM doesnt really want to leave, thus he is using vacation to postpone the ending of his games...i don't know him, but i am sure that he's a great person, and i am sure that he didnt start ALL of those arguements that he's had on the forums...maybe he's just had a stressful life since he has started chess.com and cant handle ppl disagreeing with him due to other stresses...maybe he's reading all of these somewhat disturbing comments and says that this is why he is leaving...might it truely be that nobody on the site has been nice to him, using vacation in clearly lost positions and trying to argue with everything he says...if everyone i met on the site acted like this, then i think i would leave too...however, I have met some good people in other countries and have become friends with them

You can express anger without cussing; you can express disagreement without hitting and you can express disaproval without ridicule.  But how you act or react is entirely your own choice.

If you read RM's blog posts, it is clear that he set out to wind people up.  This is not my imagination, he even makes notes to himself on his success at doing so.  It's ok by me if that's what he wants to do, but I know other people aren't as thick skinned as me and find it annoying.  He set himself up as a victim and now appears to be getting the backlash.

However, I have no illusion that it doesnt bother him at all.  He probably is sitting there rubbing his hands with glee at all the fuss he caused.  Its called a 'superiority complex', I believe.

In short, RM is having a laugh at everybody else's expense, which is pretty low.

Of course there is the other possibility that Loomis invented him as an alterego in order to gain popularity on the site.  (JOKING!!)

(But have you noticed how they're never in the same room at the same time...)

Ba(d)tgirl please post a picture of yourself. Even if you chose to post a "true" or "it-must-be-fake" picture of yourself, like Akino (is that correct). Your postings is mostly relevant and insanely accurate, it would help me tons (term learnt from the chessmaster 11 grandmaster edition review) if I could connect a face (preferably a cute one ) to your very perfect postings. Please.
