Why would anyone hack my chess.com account..?

I’ve recently received an email from chess.com regarding suspicious logins into my account, with recommendations to change my password. It took me a few days to tend to the matter during which time 3 games have been played on my account. My rating suffered nearly 20 points.

After changing my password I immediately received 2 emails saying that my account has been compromised, again. My account had been logged in from Montreal and Toronto.

I’m using the chess.com app on an updated iPad.

I don’t care much about the rating but I am curious as to the why. To what end does this action serve?

Weird..

Depending on your ISP, it's very likely those logins are from you, especially if you changed your password to a unique and complex one

I had one of those emails after logging into a device a use daily and I know for a fact it was my login that generated the alert.

Nice.

I’ve received a total of 6 emails from chess.com in the last 3 days with “Suspicious Login Detected” as the header.

But hey, no worries.
