Will chess.com think I cheated and ban me because I beat a player 800 ratings higher than me?

I am 1200 and just beat a 2000 rated player in Blitz. The other player accused me of using a engine but I didn't

Don't worry nothing will happen. I've beaten a 2100, a 2000 & an 1800 in Rapid, and a 2100 in Daily. Nothing happened cuz I didn't really cheat. Sometimes advanced level players also blunder, their fault 😉

I thought players 2000 and above dont blunder at that level. Since 2000 means you're really good, you wont make any mistakes

when did he join?

No, they will not ban you if you win against a higher rated player. I had a GM report me during a Community Brawl Blitz Arena game. He was a 3000+ rated GM and happened to lose a game against me. He was streaming as well, and the first thing he did was report me and indicate to all his viewers that I was a cheater.

What happened in the end is that his report got flushed down the toilet. A chess.com staff printed his report that he submitted against me on an A4 sized paper and used it as toilet paper to wipe his behind.

Probably if you do it too often and people start complaining.

Avatar of HistorycznyUpadekJaponii

Nope. I do it frequently, with having both chat and messages from strangers disabled.

One day, I almost completely stopped playing rated games (excluding variants) because of heavy tilting. I made a huge progress from that day just by playing a plenty of games almost daily and analysing some of them. I also watch chess videos on YT from titled players.

I may be considered a smurf, but I don't care.

My highest stable rating as of today was around 1400 (in bullet) and my best win is with a 2400+ rated player (in bullet AFAIR, but I've beaten even 2000+ players in rapid and blitz, too).

He beat you 4 out of 5 games and you played well enough to win one. What is he mad about and why isn't he playing people closer to his rank?

Nope.

Blunders are all over the place.

Won against a 1750, I am 1300 so it's a 450 rating gap. So far nothing happened, so I think you're fine

Avatar of RideZen2

You're probably okay. GG! 🙂

I did a player 1000 points higher than me twice in a row, with good accuracy, around a year ago. I'm still here.

We all have really bad games and really good games from time to time

A GM recently blundered a scholars mate in 2023 rapid world championship

As long as you don't cheat, you won't be banned for cheating. It's simple happy.png
