Just wanted to post a quick update about something I discovered: there are TWO Chess.com apps in the Amazon app store. One is called Chess.com Classic and the other is called The New Chess.com. Chess.com Classic signs in just fine, but The New Chess.com refuses to sign into the site. I guess I was using The New Chess.com app as that is the one that no longer signs into my account (I've seen one or two complaints on the Amazon app page about this). However, Classic works, so I guess I will have to use that. However, the Chess.com app I have on my Android phone is the best of all. The Amazon app appears to be an early version of the website that was never developed much. The Android app looks just like the new website with all the links for news and puzzles and stuff like that. It is quite nice!
Will Chess.com Update the Amazon App?
I downloaded the one called Chess - Play & Learn to my Fire.
It works great except when I go to Theme, all the themes are blank. Touching one says it's downloading background, but nothing actually happens.
Is there a fix for that?

I am thinking about buying a new tablet and the Amazon Fire HD (2019) seems to be a good choice. I will be travelling abroad and want to be sure that I can make moves on chess.com. Is the chess.com app available for this tablet and does it works properly? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. I have read yesterday that it is possible to install Google Play Store on Amazon tablets. I think I'm going to give it a try.
I have been using the Chess.com app on my Amazon Fire for the last two years or so and liked it. However, about two weeks ago the app no longer would allow me to sign into my account, making it useless. That was when I downloaded the Chess.com app on my Android phone. Wow! What a difference! It is clear that the Chess.com devs have continued to work on the Android version while abandoning the Amazon version.
Are there any plans to return to the Amazon app and bring it up to the Android's version? Or it it doomed to become abandonware for good?
