Ok. There is an elephant in the room.

I suspect people want some answers.

So GM4U... Would you mind explaining to the people who followed your instructions why you broke your own rules for the competition ?

We all know about the 3 months low entries problem but the :

"...you need to write at least 200 word on each product of your choice on why its your prefered choice and what you particulary like about the product- and remember to also ADD THE LINK from our website for each of those products at this..."

To make people do this and then completely ignore it is really bad. In fact it's perhaps even bad enough to complain to Chess.com to prevent you using this site for OS to upset members on this site again.

Not only have you made maik1988 stressed and angry you have made other people look stupid.

If your a rep of OS you should be ashamed.

I would like to say thanks to maik1988 for having the courage to speak out and forfeit his entry as this was the most integral moment of the entire post. maik1988 you leave with your integrity intact! : ) and you are my winner.

Enjoy your chess set MySeT you have done nothing wrong ; )

In fact GM4U because of what you did I'm going to complain to Chess.com and OS and if it gets ignored I will cancel my membership on this site.

Oh Dear.......well you see the problem is hardly anyone adhere to the 200 word per product, so we let it go by and accepted all entries irrespective of the initial brief...BUT NOWHERE DID WE STATE “MANDATORY RULES”

So instead of creating a negative atmosphere and instead of trying to form an allegiance with MAIK-

Take your “ sour grapes” elsewhere and let the winner and participants enjoy the moment and look forward to more competitions!!

Sometimes I wonder what the heck is wrong with some people, I really do!

Well well, it seems as though I've become a polarising force on the internet! Consumers against manufacturers, unite!!!

just kidding. In all seriousness, this is what I think of the entire issue:

Carl's competitions have, in the past, clearly been appreciated on these forums. Offering high quality goods for next to nothing in competitions is generous and, in my eyes, something that could get more people interested in or better informed about quality chess products that could be enjoyed for years and years. I do, therefore, see at least part of the "how much could one complain about this.." argument. Therefore, I don't think that the competitions should stop.

Having said that,, I think that the terms and conditions of these competitions absolutely need to be clearly at the beginning to avoid people feeling confused, frustrated or duped. Perhaps this is true even more so because of the value of the prize. I also took the 200 words per item to be an actual rule, which was the reason why I typed in a word document until I reached at least 200 words. If a certain number of entries is required, or words per item, or combination of choices, etc., state it at the beginning and circumvent all this headache in the future.

p.s. Congrats to MySet for winning the prize.

Congratulations MySet, you won an outstanding set!

And thanks to Carl, for giving us the opportunity to participate happy.png
It's funny how people start complaining after the result. If they had won they would have kept their mouths shut...

Bilbo21

Nothing like a sore loser!

@NastyNugget ha! Incorrect. I was biting my tongue right at the time maik1988 did it and he got ridiculed instead. I felt bad for the guy as he had practically ruined his chance. If not he would of been thinking it. 2 months later my choice was out of stock! So that was it.
When we were all told we need a lot more entries after the deadline it was getting obvious something was not right. So by then I was thinking 'so the entries he's already got aren't good enough or why not draw?'
I'm actually glad I didn't win. I didn't want that set as you will see if you want to look back at my entry. I like traditional looking pieces the "prize" wasn't my taste. That's being honest.
maik1988 has a good point like I have stated. It needs to be clear and fair. I have put in a complaint directed by Martin_Stahl (see help and support) . I will be honest with you all I have stated this kinda thing needs to be regulated or at least supervised seeing as this is Chess.com site stating people have been rude and insulting at times.

My point is maik1988 got annoyed and upset. I have been called a sore loser and had accusations of being wrong in the head , loads of people made a lot of effort and now I'm being called out by some one called NastyNuggett. It's a competition all the above shouldn't happen.

A good idea would be to have set rules and maybe get e.g Martin_Stahl or someone from chess.com to decide who is the winner after all it's there site.

As for me count me out 'once bitten twice shy'. Im not entering anything like this again. I mean it wouldn't be biased would it? ; )

I'm going back to playing good old chess.

Dude, don't be pathetic.
If the contest looked so bad, why did you keep posting and motivating people to participate?
And you just said:

So explain this post:

You didn't won, it's ok.

Move on.
