Would you take THIS draw

Ok, the scenario is this is a tournament game, and you play Black against a player rated 250 above you.

In the final position, do I play f6 and allow him a slightly better position, or play Qd2 and allow him to draw with Qd5?

Take the draw... he is better than you and (I haven't looked at the game) it is a slightly worse position.

I would play Qc5. But that's me. Too early to draw for meSmile

I hear what you say, but a repetion draw in the opening just seems wrong, lol

for me, it would depend on a. where i was ranked in the tournament group, b. where he was ranked in the group, and c. what the outcome of my other game against him was, if it had been played.

interestingly, in my database, after 8. Qd5, i have three moves played by black.

44 games with f6, 12-15-17 W-D-L.

1 game with f5, black won.

7 games with 8...Qa3, all wins for white.  white usually responds with Rc1. (5 responses, all wins).

looking at this, i'd go for the draw.

As White? No, I know this line. The correct move after ...Qa3? is Rc1.

As Black? Definitely.

IMHO I would go for a draw with Qe7. The likelihood of winning someone 250 rating points above me in this position is small. White looks better off to me.

u mean Qe7* not Qd2...

and this is nowhere a draw, you still got 30 moves to go! but i would take it if its a stronger opposition by 200+ points.

Personally, I would take the draw if I was black.

Chessy4000 is right - if you're opponent will get the better position and he's better than you, obviously a draw is infinitely better Cool
