Yeah there was an option to start as an "Expert" when it asked you what level you were and it would set you at 2000 but they removed it

My guess is the vast majority of members that chose that dropped well below. With the way that Glicko RD works, if you choose the top level now, it doesn't take that long to get higher if your strength is higher.
I recently learned that previously, you could start your account elo at 2,000 on chess.com. However, the most advanced rating you can start with is 1600. Does anyone know why this is? I have been playing chess.com since 2020, but I don't think I have ever seen that option before.
