Wow, good call. I was going to say 'You missed the obvious 1...Rxg2+, delaying mate one more move,' but I don't think that it does. After 2.Qxg2 Re6, white can now just play 3.Rxe6, and I am pretty sure white can still force mate in seven.

That's a good point, I didn't really think of 1...Rxg2+. But I'm not sure if it really does delay the mate, I could only think of the continuation 2.Kxg2 Kf8 (else white could play Rxe8#, and now Rxe8+ would lead to a delayed mate after 3...Kxe8) 3.Qxg5 Re6, and then it would be a kinda equal situation as before... But I'm not really sure if black could play better there, and then delay the mate.
