Stalemate is a rule. We all know it! So it's not very smart to just carelessly keep queening pawns without even bothering to look out for it. Just pay attention. Instead of mindlessly queening your h-pawn and stalemating your opponent, you had a very simple mate in 2: Qg1+ and Qfh2 mate. Open your eyes and play chess

Do you realize that this is a 2 year old thread? That the OP, who was a beginner back then, is quite a decent player now, over the rating of 1000? That the thread was dead for 2 year, and then was revived by an insane spammer?

What in the name of Sam Elliot's mustache is going on here?

Think carefully. What would its next move be? Can’t think of one? That’s because it has no moves, but it’s not in check. That’s baked stalemate, and you always need to be careful not to stalemate in a winning endgames.

"baked stalemate"?

Avatar of MARattigan

Given the date of the original post, anything baked would be stale by now, presumably.

Hehe. I wonder how long this old thread will go on. Funny people still answering my question. I appreciate it! Thank you. Yup, good ol' stalemate.

This is not true. In the starting position of chess, neither king can move anywhere.

Stalemate only happens when the player on the move has no legal moves with any piece. If the king can't move, but other pieces can, that's nothing.

Stalemate is what i mean!

Draw is when king has no legal move or is out of pieces

Or when moves are repeated 3 times

This is not correct. The position has to be repeated 3 times, the move order doesn't matter.
