Hi, I need advise on this endgame which ended in a draw. I played white and its white to move in this position.

What did you try?  I was thinking of Nb4 with the idea of Nd5+ and then Nc7.

EDIT: Added 46..Rb8.

Ra8 seems like a winning answer...

45. Ne7+ Kf6 46. Nf5  forking the d6 pawn and the g7 rook. If 46. ... Rd7 47. Rxd7 Nxd7 48. Nxd6 white now has two connected passed pawns. If 46. ... Rg2+ Ke1, black still can't guard the d6 pawn.

Maybe simpler to play is 45. Rxg7+ Kxg7 and then jus walk your king around to b5 then c6 and push the b-pawn. If black also tries to bring his king to that side of the board, to stop your king from penetrating, you just play Nf6-Nxh5 and push your h-pawn.

In the initial diagram. 44. Na5 Nxa5 45. Rxa5 and now black can't stop you from playing Rb5, so he'll have to stick his rook on b7 or b8 to prevent promotion. Then you just walk over with your king.

@doomsuckle: It was actually black's turn in the second diagram, so I couldnot play Ra8. I added Rb8 to avoid confusion.

@Loomis: Those are very good ideas. I played b7 and then realised my knight did not have any space to maneouvre around.
