How is this a draw? It should be checkmate even if i moved too many time with out taking a piece. They have no way of not losing next turn it's checkmate.

White has no legal moves. Stalemate.

I believe is about the opposition, getting to other paths leads black to win opposition, thus being unable to promote your pawn.

Another new account continuing the long and very loved "Why is this a draw." forum post.

This is a draw for everyone that has read the game rules, and a no-draw for every ephemeral forum troll.

Dumb rule.

Putting my hand at this because I think I have an easy way of explaining in a short manner

We know a few things before we start playing :
1. The black king wants to stop the pawn from promoting, and the best way to do so is to get in front of the pawn one square in front of it
2. The black king is directly diagonal from the spot he wants to control
3. The fastest way to get to that spot is by f8-e7-d6-c5
4. Black will stay on a dark square each move in this path

Now, we do a quick calculation, if we want to gain the opposition, and get to the front of the pawn at the same time, we want to move in the direction of the pawn in order to meet the black king at the correct location, and in order to prevent it from being taken.

We then see if we can gain the opposition at some point along black’s f8 to c5 path, even though we don’t immediately gain it, as long as we do at some point, it can work.

Now, the position is created in such a way that things barely work out for us, so in the end, we gain the opposition last minute, and then proceed to run the black king to the side and to the edge of the board with it, and promote the pawn.
