This is not really zugzwang as White to play has Rg1-a1-a8 mating. The Black R is very helpless.
Also 49...Rf7 is forcing an exchange of pawns and drawing instantly. It seems like Black was not trying to do anything other than play legal moves.

False. 57.Kf6 (pass) 58.Rg1 (pass) 59. Ra1 and Ra8# next.
