I look at Silman's organization as a means to choose the order in which I study things. You need to know how to checkmate with a queen v lone king before learning how to queen a pawn helps you any. You should learn the basic Philidor position before you tackle the rook-pawn version. If you're already a relatively advaced player, perhaps you can dive into the more advanced books.
I just finished reading about the phildor position and will do some work but I am alright at endgames it is the minor piece endings such as K and 2B v K and KBN V K which I have trouble with. But overall endgame knowledge is good
Even if I never play it is good to know something so at least you know what to do when it happens. I study Nizmo, Queens and Bogos indian even though I never play it just in case I decide to change tack and play 1.d4 rather than e4 so I know how to play it. Also I plan on getting DEM and Fundamental Chess Endings.
Looking for a book to help improve in the endgame. Would be good if provided a link to a review as well. My NZCF rating after 5 rated games will be aprox. 1700-1800. (I don't know how NZCF comapre to FIDE or USCF) I am looking for something that goes deep into endgames and has good examples
Thanks
