Oh I know and I was sure I already edited that out! I always make many typo's and thinko's before I deliver my definitive version. Sory Rorrywink, it's my age. And the fact that english is not a native language for me.

Yeah. No. Still doesn't work. Still doesn't change the fact the rules dictate a current attack on the enemy king. Which of course a king cannot carry out.

Nice try. And you get points for creativity. But the rules aren't going to bend to accommodate your point of view.

That looks like a response to KieferSmith's post not mine (which is about language). I could of course answer it but have done that 10 times already. So I leave it to him - if he wants to.

I see you're trying to make me join your side by posting irrelevant positions. I'm not falling for it. Obviously, the queen was the last piece that moved. That means the queen is the piece that checkmated black's king, by moving. But, in the move below, the king is the moving piece and, by moving, puts the black king in checkmate.

The position is very relevant, because it speaks directly to this topic. Why do you say obviously the queen was the last piece to move? You agree the queen is the checkmating piece, but why do you assume the moving piece has to be the checkmating piece? Again I ask, if that were the case, wouldn't the rules reflect that?

Why aren't the rules for checkmate something like this "the enemy is said to be checkmated when the last move of the game results in the enemy king being unable to parry the attack"? Why do the rules make no mention of any move when defining checkmate? Why do they only mention the piece that attacks the enemy kings square and the enemy king? It's something you'll eventually have to reconcile, if you want to give any consideration to the rules of chess.

it is so astonishing that people would argue and debate a lot over symantic simplification...or simplified clause....i mean how many of you realize Earth is actually revolving around the center of mass in solar system? but is it even wrong to say Earth is revolving around the Sun? you can even say the Sun is circling our planet.

I mean, does it really matter if King is the one that delivers the checkmate or not?

it is like debating whether a war criminal killed millions of lives or it was his soldiers who did that

Simple, use the king piece as a baseball bat.

I've always heard the clock was the best piece. As it's hurtling across the room someone is going to say "oh my, look at how time flies".

Unprofessional121212

I lied, the board is the best piece. You move it with enough force and every other piece is gone.

THE CHECK IS THE MOST POWERFUL PIECE IN CHESS

KieferSmith

No... the notation book is the best piece!

I lied once again, the hand is the most powerful piece. The other pieces wouldn't even move without the hands.

Symantic? We are still at spelling it seems. Or is it virus protection? happy

Because of the massive amount of nonsense, you missed the reality connections. First of all, "How do you get chess.com's coveted killer king award? And for what precisely?" Without it, there is no chance of being voted "Person of the year 2023"! Next, it is really important in the field of chess composition for many of its competitions are based on instructions with such chess terms. Like "The theme of this tournament are threemovers where a king checkmates". 100% realistic. Third, chess people do talk of these things - though commonly in dark corners. "hey ... over here ... listen ... but don't tell ... yesterday I checkmated my nephew with a pawn ... while the pawn didn't check him ... it's a mystery ... ask Sherlock Holmes.

But, agreed, it doesn't matter much when playing a chessgame.

The best way to describe winning a chess game: Threaten the enemy's king with death until he runs out of cheap escape cards.

the rock, because the rock moving resulted in my death

THE rock "assisted" by moving out of the way.
