I keep getting stalemates

This often results when you have a big material advantage and get in a hurry. I recently goofed my way into a stalemate when I had a huge material advantage. Always make sure you either have your opponent in check or that your move leaves them with a legal move.
A lot of inexperienced players get in too big of a hurry, which is the primary cause of stalemates. I play 60-minute games as I'm an old guy now. I blundered away a bishop in my opening and gave my opponent a clearly winning position, but he kept hurrying along, started making his own mistakes, and I ended up winning easily. We had 60 minutes of his time and he made 30-some moves in about 15 minutes. Why play a longer time limit if you're going to rush?
