I had my first bishop+knight checkmate! happy.png Or actually my opponent resigned when there was a mate in one. That was a daily game, I'm not sure if I could have done it in rapid. I'm playing Black here.

It isn't; the opponent resigned there seeing that B+N checkmate will be successfully converted. The King is in check, so they are forced into the only legal move 97. Kh1 and then 97...Be4# is checkmate.

Okay

I learned it by watching Naroditsky's youtube video, he explains it really well! happy.png

It's "easy" when you get the pieces to the backrank, but the hardest part is definitely to drive the king to the edge of the board and get the pieces to their ideal squares while not allowing the king to escape.

I am really surprised considering your rating! It's the most trickiest endgame to play even for super GMs. They fail to checkmate even when they have some decent time left on the clock. Great!

There is also... A 2 knights vs pawn endings hah. It is sometimes *really* hard to mate there in 50 [no-moves of a pawn], as... It depends on position of pawn. U know, I guess (if no, Wikipedia may help, e.g.).

The 2 Knights endgame with an enemy pawn is VERY uncommon and even if it comes up, it isn't always a forced win. The difficult to find technique is the Troitsky Line, but if the pawn is outside of a certain zone, then even with this knowledge, the win might not be forced within 50 move-rule.

B+N checkmate is rare enough, but at least somewhat feasible to occur in a game. Really obscure endings like 2N + enemy pawn are more about teaching concepts and learning how to think through problems (composed more like a study) than it is about necessarily being practical.
