Dears, I am in the finals studies in chess.com, pawns. Could someone tell me how to win the second exercice ? as for me it is a draw position... Thanks for your support.

Hello,
Get your king to c6. Once your king is on the left side of the pawn, you can escort your pawn to promotion. Good luck!

Thanks Willbynum ! The issue I get is that when I put my King on C6, I can't avoid black King to have opposition on C8...

Kf5 Ke5 Kd5 Kc6 Kc7, then promote happy.png

Sometimes this works.... but sometimes the black sequence is this : Kf7 Ke8 Kd8 Kc8.... and this is draw right ?

Is it that? Basically whenever Black plays …Ke8 you answer it with Ke6 followed by pushing your pawn.

So yeah, Kf5 Ke8, Ke6 and d7 next and the pawn queens. If Black’s K reaches d7 it’s a draw regardless of whose move it is.

Sorry in the diagram above I marked it as 1/2-1/2 by mistake but obviously white wins.

Hi James, thanks a lot for your answer. Actually, when I play Kf5 then black takes opposition with Kf7, and I cant have anything else than a draw ☺

Like I mentioned, you just need to answer …Ke8 with Ke6 and then you win. So 1.Kf5 Kf7 2.Ke5, then if he goes to f8 you go to f6, and if he goes to e8 you go to e6 and job done.

Indeed.... how could I not see it... thanks to all ☺
