Well they still let you do underlines, but you can't do strike-through anymore apparently.
Anyway, yeah, this is hard :)

you can do the <u> text </u> for underline.
but the <s> text </s> for strike doesn't work.
Yeah... unrelated I know.
I happened to try to do a strike in my post, and when it didn't work... for some reason I decided to mention it lol

this information is no doubt more useful than any discussion on the position in question.
No doubt exercises like this would be useful... and tedious ;)
At least long before I started gaining any kind of encyclopedic knowledge.
so, you well studied players, how often do you arrive in positions in a game (outside of the opening) where you know it from either a puzzle, tactic, or some other study method?
@tonydal - obviously that one was unknown to most, i just was wondering if after lots of study you actually did memorize some, but i imagine with "lots" of possible positions it would be rare to be able to memorize enough to be noticable.
@orangehonda - in the pawn endgame video series it discussed that, actually. i have not fully digested it after one watching, but esentially he said that you could recognize a few "postional themes" (perhaps that is a term), and figure out how to make that position into one of those themes. like trying to end up with a winning K+P v. K position after trades and whatnot.
This ending is a quite easy draw. I drawed this ending against Fritz and Rybca by doing absolutly nothing (Kd8-e8-d8-e8). The basic idea is very simple, there isn't a breakthrough with 8 vs 8 pawns (as is with 3 vs 3). The only dangerous moment is as in the diagram. As the king attacks the square where the pawn advance will be placed, it is decisive. So White to move has to play f3 himself to draw.
Although it is an easy draw, you can get a very interesting game, when both players try to win!
