Yes, there is just no point. During this topic it was proved my engine was messed up but still, chasing is no better than not chasing

Because then the White King catches the Black Pawn. The game is drawn. Black cannot win

If you think you see a winning line for Black, show it to me and I'll point out where you are wrong.

oh, sorry, I looked at it wrong, you are right, I think.

The first 2 Diagrams are exactly the same since Black can play 4...Ke5 in both.

It's not mate in 16, 14 or 12 - it's mate in 11 ALTOGETHER or 10 if Black isn't careful.

4...Ke5 5.Kc5 Ke4 6.Qf6 Ke3 7.Qf5 Ke2 8.Kd4 Kd2 9.Qf2+ Kc1 10.Kc3 Kb1 11.Qb2#

After 1. f5, White will have a mate in 9 after all eight of the black king's possible moves. After 1...Ke4 2. f6 Kd3 3. f7, the black king has to move to the c-file or the 2nd rank to avoid shortening the game. So Nightly-Knight is right in thinking that following the pawn would lose more quickly.

In the line analyzed, 3...Ke4 4. f8=Q Ke5(best) 5. Kc5, with best play, the game will end with a mate on White's 12th move, not 11th as claimed by AussieRookie. But White can get the mate on the 11th move with 5. Kc4 or Qf3 instead of Kc5.
