Analysis of lines - software checkpoints?

OK, I'm pretty new, played a little in high school and just picking it up for fun.  I got a book and I want to follow analysis, but what I'd like is to be able to set up the board, perhaps for a new game or set position, then play moves and be able to go back and forth, but also checkpoint so I can quickly revert to a known position.  Can we do that on chess.com?  I tried but couldn't figure it out.  Any other way to do it?

I'm sure you can, and this is probably what you need.  If it isn't, try Help(lower left corner), another menu pops up; you want Ask a Question.  I got this from Custom Position, but there were several other articles as well.  You can also use the Explorer and then switch to analysis or play against the computer.  Seem to be numerous ways to do what you want.  Have fun!

Thanks!  I didn't see any exact thing.  I guess I can save the analysis, but easiest so far seems to be to copy the FEN as a checkpoint, then paste it back in to rest.

Glad to help.  You might also want to check out the Drills (Puzzles>Drills).  Lots of preset positions to play against, including those pesky endgames that we should all be studying but don't.

I've been doing puzzles.  I've looked at a couple videos.  There's a lot here, so just getting started!
