Yes I do agree with you sir, but just type in on google what is a better site and you will see why I say so.

Yes puzzles and lessons are much better than on lichess but on lichess there is a large variety of noobs to train with at your level and a studies factor which is crucial.

But I recommend Chess.com over lichess for normal players but not beginners.

Who are beginners ?

I consider myself a beginner for example.. no doubts.. but what level of raiting one must to get in order to stop already to be a beginning player?

Well that is a good question. happy.png People rated 1 500 FIDE and above are considered intermediate players, and those below 1 200 are beginners. As not everyone has FIDE rating you could speculate on their strength. For instance 1500 rapid on chess.com is better than 90% people so although 1 500 is not much, and is certainly still weak compared to strong players, it is probably not a beginner rating. Intermediate perhaps... on the weaker side probably.

Then that's okey.

My raiting vacillates from 1350 up to almost 1600 here... but I don't think that I am an intermediate player yet... because I make too many foolish mistakes during the game... In fact even two Kings opposition is still the difficult task for me.

But I wonder... How can I know what is my FIDE raiting ?

And if we take... for example... FIDE raitings and over here raitings of our chess.com players... What raitings will be higher ? ))

I know one serbian IM who has only about 1800 points of raiting in rapid here.

It is tough to compare really, I mean those 2 ratings. happy.png Top ratings here are inflated obviously as there is no human player with 3000+ rating in real life. Weak ratings around 1 000 are probably inflated as well. I've read somewhere that based on some inquiry based on people with FIDE and online ratings somewhere between 1300-2 000 online ratings start to catch up FIDE ratings, so there is even some online ratings that is on average stronger than OTB counterpart.

The thing is however, probably every individual case is different.

EDIT: Here is the most current comparison I have found. Take it with the grain of salt however. happy.png

alright, so I placed first at my age division at nats, which means I get to go to worlds grin.png

it also means I'm free to analyze some games, and recommend resources.

it's 1 AM, but I'll do it tomorrow/later today for sure.

Congratulations!

Thanks, lol. I definitely got very lucky (I started with 0.5/2 after throwing two much better - winning - games in time trouble. Then i won all the rest, but round 3 and 4 games were probably drawn as well, but I grinded the endgame in round 3 and won, and I swindled my opponent in round 4 by sacking the exchange in what should have been a drawn endgame)

Don't move the pawns up 2 if you go first? Not a fan of e4 or d4 openings for beginners?

Hello, I started chess in July of this year. I work between 1h30 and 2h a day (25 problems and two to three games). I don’t really know any openings yet.

In 4 months I can not exceed 950 ELO (days of great forms). I am a little discouraged.

At the beginning of each part I am focused, then I get tired and my attention drops and I get eaten pieces!! I can’t make plans and I feel like I’m taking more time to think than others (I do 30-minute games)...
Any tips for a slow beginner?

Thanks

Chess.com doesn't just do normal chess. There are many good variants out there. Bughouse, 4 player chess, that type of thing. Maybe you should try to explore more of the parts of Chess.com. Even I can say that I didn't know that king of the hill existed until I tried it. You really never know, some of those variants may actually be beneficial for normal chess, improvibg tactics and keeping calm under pressure. (This is just a suggestion. You really can do what makes you feel comfortable)

My opponent decided after I had placed my knight to put his Queen in a position where my knight could capture it. As a result he instantly resigned only a second into the game. DO NOT DO WHAT MY OPPONENT DID!

dont play blitz it spoils ur game try playing daily chess and time control 15l10 more

So, maybe this is just getting used to this website. Daily chess is a daily game? Finish in 1 day? And what is the "time control" 15/10 mean?

Sorry if this is super basic.. I just joined a week ago, and just restarted playing chess (sort of), after about a decade. Thanks.

Time control 15|10 means 15 minutes per side plus 10 seconds added every time you make a move. Daily chess is correspondence chess, meaning it is not live but your opponent makes a move, and you have 1 day, 3 days or more (depending what did you choose when you created a challenge) for your move. You can make a move earlier of course but that is your limit.

By the way, my post is somewhere on this topic, so it is just easier for me to put this here:

I hope you will find this useful.

Ha.. I'm in a "3-day" game, and I was thinking we better start hurrying to finish.

It's 3-days PER MOVE? .. I guess I can relax and take my time now.

nklristic

Yeah, that is daily chess. Make use of analysis tool there. Click on it and analyze different variations before you pick your actual move.
