I have committed to playing serious chess with @drobilka If I ever send him a game to analyze it will be ones in which I played my best. My thought process will be clear for him. Since I will be taking it seriously I will have to cut on the jokey blitz (and maybe even daily) play here, but I will not stop it entirely.

Play blitz. If you can’t be focused play blitz. Same problem happens to me so I decided to play fast games. I don’t like bullet that much as it’s just play fast solid moves and make the opponent lose on time. Blitz is fast pace and overall doesn’t get me tired. I also watched a vid on how to get better at chess, and also just watch chess vids. Watch what your pieces can do and don’t blunder.

I think thats a good idea. I would suggest to also try 30 second which can help you feel in. less time pressure.

30 second chess ruins your chess.

I am seriously thinking about a coach. But I think of it as a specialized feedback partner and specific training advice dispenser. Ultimately I want a coach that will help me be better in the way that I have decided to play chess, not one that will try to mold me into his/her way of playing chess.

I can help you for free. send me a message on chess.com. i can't guarantee i'll be available all the time, but I'll give you advice on any games you send me/any questions you have

Is that just for Wornaki or is that something you are willing to do for other players? I've been slowly working to improve at chess myself.

originally just for wornaki, but a lot of people have seen this forum and contacted me in my messages, asking for free coaching as well. im fine with helping, but im really busy with school (our school gives freshman like an insane amount of homework compared to last year), and then there's extracurriculars, hobbies, and I need to improve my own chess skills as well, etc.

again, im fine with helping, but i won't be on extremely frequently, and I likely won't respond right away. you need to be 100% committed to improving.

post, and annotate a rapid game you lost/had a hard time winning in the forum. after class, ill respond back to you, like i did with wornaki. happy.png

I have a thread I've been slowly adding stuff to. Mind if I post an annotation there rather than in pms?

It would be easier if you messaged me, or posted in this forum.

Hmm, then you shall find a coach that plays the way you play... Btw I Think the way you play chess should change,.... If you want to know the reason play me... You play the Modern Defense

I like a lot of things about some hypermodern setups with black, among them the ability to transpose. I also like the fact that some of the hypermodern setups for white have simple plans that resonate with me. An added benefit, is that the resulting positions tend to make it harder for opponents to go all tactical against me. I'll gladly concede equality to black in a closed game with lots of maneuvering rather than keeping a slight edge in a position that is rife with tactical shots.

Can you post some examples of those games? Which openings have you been practicing?

The problem is that, at your level, games are mostly tactical, and it's something you need to work on. Against my first coach (a 2300 FM), who was extremely positional, I just deviated from theory, opened up the game and won. I have a plus score against him now in rapid and blitz (which means I've beaten him more times than I've lost - we never played a classical game, but the rapid game was 15+10). Obviously, I'm far from FM strength, but the reason I won was because I played to my opponent's weaknesses.

I never see how a Chess coach works.

But I saw one open lesson of Grandmaster Anatoly Karpov on russian tv. So I think that your first chess trainer was right with his methodics... The right positional moves are what delivers us the victory in Chess game.

And now... after almost three years on chess.com... I am sure that the beginner doesn't make a good position for his pieces in the game from the very start... This is the key reason why he (she) begins to make mistakes and blunders after.

I repeat. Of course you make blunders when your position like sh..t... and you don't know what  piece to take in hand.

I have a low raiting but I want to advice all beginners to learn the right developing their pieces and pawns... This is basic of Chess I think.

And "crusher" too ! LOL

Some russian words have a few meanings.

This is why russian language is so hard to learn for foreigner.

DROBILKA =
1. crusher, grinder, mill, shredder
(дробильная установка, мясорубка, мельница, шредер)
2. granulator
(гранулятор)

Hello, I started chess in July of this year. I work between 1h30 and 2h a day (25 problems and two to three games). I don’t really know any openings yet.

In 4 months I can not exceed 950 ELO (days of great forms). I am a little discouraged.

At the beginning of each part I am focused, then I get tired and my attention drops and I get eaten pieces!! I can’t make plans and I feel like I’m taking more time to think than others (I do 30-minute games)...
Any tips for a slow beginner?

I don't know... Maybe this unlucky man really needs a coach ?

Who sits besides him... and will be correcting his wrong moves on the board.

I played several games today until I found one that would be worth putting up, this was a close game I won, in part from time and in part a material lead coming out as my pieces finally got moving. I did not know what my opponent's opening was. The Italian is my main (more like my only), opening but I don't play gambits. Chess.com called it an Evan's gambit, which I will now look into to see how my defense could be improved. Let me know your thoughts on my gameplay and my annotations. I'm new to annotating my games, that's something I'll need to develop as well. This is my pre-engine annotation, I'll also look at what the chess.com analysis feature thought of the game afterwards now, but just wanted to get my original thoughts down before doing so.
