This should get you started. This information and little else (with some time and practice) can potentially get you to about 1000 chess.com rating happy.png

Also, feel free to message me if you ever have questions, or just want to chat. We can even play some unrated games sometime and discuss chess if you like happy.png

Edit: Also realizing you are already over 1000 rating on here, but the offer about chatting or games still stands happy.png

If you want to get better do these things:

  • Study- The only way you are going to get better is if you know more abot the game. This doesn't mean studying book openings, it means knowing positions. The game of chess is all about knowing positions and getting familiar with the positions that suite your playstyle best.
  • Play more- "Perfect practice, makes perfect".
  • Seek guidance from higher players(if they have the time)
  • Know what type of player are you- Are you an aggressive player, a positional player, a passive player, a tactical player, a tricky player? What makes you different from the rest? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Focus on your weaknesses- In order to get better in the game you need to focus on your weaknesses. If you don't focus on your weaknesses you will have slower gradual improvement. In order to get good at anything(chess included) you are going to have to spend time in the areas you are least effective and effecient in. If you spend all your time in the areas you are good at, when the time comes for you to play a position or do moves you are unfamiliar with or are not as good in your will suffer.
  • You must put in the time- If you don't put in a good amount of time you are not going to improve. You got to put in the time, to do the grind, you must, as if you don't you won't succeed in chess. But not only in chess but also in many areas of life. You have to have hardwrok and dedication, and perserverance, the person who hates the qualities of being productive, hates the accolades of being successful.
  • You have to put your pride down- I don't know if you have pride, but if you do leave that out of the chess board. If you really want to get good and reach levels as 2000+ one day, then you are going to have to put in the work and sacrifice your time, will, and even sometimes other things in your life(however I don't know how wise that would be for chess, I guess it depends on you).
  • Watch Youtube videos- Use your resources, there are plenty of good channels to help you in your building the fundamentals of getting better at chess. Some of these include, the channels of Chess Network(for building fundamentals), Chess Talk(for chess traps[although I don't recommend if think traps are going to work most of the time, because in truth they don't even work 10% of the time; however I am showing you this channel because it is good to know the traps by heart, just in case you want to use them or your opponents use them.], You can go to Agadmator's Chess Channel, he provides a good amount of chess content, however I do think it is good to strengthen your level to about 1200 before you watch him. However I do think it is good to have discipline while watching these chess channels so you don't get carried away.

All in all there is a lot of resources you can use, but in the end of the day it is up to you to make sure you are successful on the chess board. You may be given all manners of strategies, tips and tricks and do well in listening, but the point is to apply what you hae learned.

If you put in the effort and put in the time to do well, then you will get better over time. But it is good to understand that nothing comes immediatley. It took me 2 years to get to this rating, and just 2 years ago I was a 600, yikes, right?

Trust and believe it takes time and perservance, just like most things in life, however if you are willing to sacrifice just  little bit more time, do the tactical puzzles, and asssert your mind to study the middlegames and endgames then you should be fine heading into the near future.

Hopefully this was helpful.

Of course my fellow chess member, just makes sure you not only listen but put the work in, and if you do both then gradual improvement can be made. Just makes sure to be patient in your growth and then you'll be bound to make a positive change in your performance.
