Beginner chess question

So I am not confident on not blundering my queen and taking out a rampaging queen taking all my pieces. So I try to trade my queen asap because I usually feel like I can play better than someone else with no queen. Basically I’m asking how bad of a habit is this and how can I get better! Thanks

Hi, if your in a position where your opponents queen has more control over the board I suggest you trade your queen, but also make sure your queen doesn’t have any checks or captures before trading. If you want more help on this topic you should check out ChessMood.
it’s an online chess course designed by grandmasters, it has all the resources you’ll need.

I hope this helps, Good luck!

Thank you for the advice for avoiding stuff like this, I’ll give the service a try

The Queen is your most powerful piece and you shouldn't trade it for no reason. Trading your Queen like that can bring your attack to a grinding halt, which may be exactly what your opponent wants. There are positions and good reasons for Queen trades, but "I got used to it" ain't one.

As you get better at the game you find that the queen's importance diminishes somewhat. It's still a very valuable piece, but more important is the coordination between the rest of your pieces and pawns. Trading Queens isn't the right idea all of the time, and I would definitely avoid trying to trade the queens at all costs, but it's by no means a bad thing in general. Games are won with all of your pieces, not just one.

Trading queens asap is something you can make work. It often also works as a mind game too because tactical/aggressive players will often avoid queen trades to the point of creating weaknesses. If you really want to make it work, get really good at end games. Just don't be dogmatic about it, if you're down more than a pawn avoid trading queens if at all possible, they are the comeback piece.

Try to leave queens on the board intentionally to build experience and comfort.

Winning is winning!

If playing with no Queen’s helps you win, Than perhaps you should start playing openings which often have Queen Trades.
