I have almost 400 rating and I don't know any openings or defenses, could someone write me the best openings and defenses to learn

Scandinavian works well, but only if you do this...

And not this...

Putting the queen in the center early worsens your position because it can be attacked easily. so NEVER develop your queen early!

Thanks for that, I always develop the queen now I know not to do that.💯

You can’t go wrong with Queen’s Gambit, it’s a very flexible opening

the halloween gambit is pretty good.

At 400, you shouldn't be concerned with learning openings.

Learn opening principles:

https://www.chess.com/lessons/opening-principles

And then focus on not hanging your pieces, such that they can be taken in 1 move.

At 400, your games aren't being won or lost because of opening theory knowledge. They're being won and lost because people blunder their pieces in 1 move. Cut that out of your game, and your rating will go up hundreds of points.

@MarioParty4, you said you should use the knight to attack cause of "don't bring your queen early" it just basically giving up pawn XD

White just defends the pawn with the other pawn...

Actually white usually does not. The most common (and probably the best) move is 3. d4.

White could defend with 3. c4, but that is not the best option and not very common either.

The top three options Stockfish gives are d4, Nf3 and Bb5+. The order depends on how long you let it run.

I think Scotch is the best if it is possible to say that. Because it's quite simple and reliable. But opening isn't most important from my point of view.

Sticking with opening principles will probably serve you better at that rating level: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/opening-principles-again

However, you could also check out this video I made if you want some guidance on choosing the right chess opening for you, once you do decide to pick an opening more regularly:

Altogether,The Bong Cloud,Grob, and moving pieces at the edge of the board, and "Rook B1!"(a popular chess meme) are not to play.

La mejor para principiantes es la apertura italiana, fácil, rápida y ordenada.

Hi! I'm umer.

The Sicilian Defense, known for its dynamic and tactical nature, is considered one of the best chess openings for players seeking aggressive and unbalanced positions.

The Sicilian Defense is great, but it has too much theory.

If you're 400 elo and want to learn an opening, learn a system (like the London for white and Pirc for black). However, any central opening with natural development and no F pawns should be good.
