Hi guys, I just joined and wanted to know, what is the best opening for beginners
Avatar of Mangalgrahi

Any opening which is not complicated and makes it harder for players to develop easily should be avoided and then you can play anything you like , I will prefer London system ,Italian game caro kann, etc

There isn’t a single “best” opening for beginners. The best choice is one that helps you follow basic principles consistently. Focus on openings that develop pieces naturally, fight for the center, and get your king safe without heavy memorization. With White, openings like the Italian Game or the London System are popular because the ideas are clear and forgiving. With Black, playing simple structures like Caro-Kann teaches solid development without sharp theory. At beginner level (especially on Chess.com), games are rarely decided by opening theory so pick one opening you enjoy, understand the ideas behind it, and spend most of your energy on avoiding simple mistakes and improving tactics. For more structured learning, look into the various classes and resources we offer at our Chess coaching, Chess Gaja.

I really like the Ruy Lopez Exchange Variation.
1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Bxc6
It's the early exchange of the Bishop for the Knight. It's a sideline, it puts early pressure on e5, it has a narrower tree than the mainline, and it also sets you up for a comfortable pawn endgame if you get that far.

In short, it's easier to understand than many mainlines and it avoids (not entirely) a lot of the theory.
I started out around 600 on here and started using that around 900... fast forward a few years and I'm still using it, exclusively, at 2100-2300+ online level.

I would say Openings that follows Basic Principles.

Thank you, for the information that you gave, i like the queen gambit’s declined or the ballistic missile because you get 3 points back from you and the king is out plus the queen is in (the opponent territory.

With your game open, select Share Game then click PGN tab and below the PGN (bottom right corner), select the copy to clipboard. Then go to your post and in Edit mode, select at the top of the post, the icon that looks like a chess board.

When it opens, paste your clipboard into the bottom section then specify Add Game & then LOAD. Then Post.

ADDED: SEE post #16 below for the game itself.
