What is the best way to advanced past 1000? I want to optimize my time studying and cannot advance no matter how many puzzles or games I play. Any advice is much appreciated!

It depends what you are struggling with specifically, but I'd say the biggest help to crossing the 1000 barrier is:

- studying basic checkmate patterns and theoretical endgames (my YouTube channel has videos on several endgames)

- Following "opening principles" https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/opening-principles-again

- When solving puzzles, try to understand the main themes and elements of the position, rather than just guessing through the moves. See if you can visualize/calculate the entire solution before playing the first move if possible.

Make sure to manage your time well. Keep it up with the puzzles and learn to understand them. Don't just solve them after a few attempts and think you've done it. Really understand why the moves you're making are good. Train your brain to recognise patterns. For example I never miss a smothered mate puzzle now because I'm used to the tactical pattern. Learn some openings. Just a few moves of theory will do. You don't have to master them yet. Just enough to get yourself a position that is at least equal in the midgame. Try to think a few moves in advance especially when going for complex trades. Try to cut down on hanging pieces. (I don't know that you hang pieces a lot I'm just assuming because I did pre 1000.) Watch chess on YouTube and try to pick up tips. Long post but all in all 1000 is attainable for anyone with enough effort put in.

Don't play blitz, that will just teach you to play fast. Player slower formats so you can think.

USE YOUR TIME many players including myself just play moves instantly. You have plenty of time. Use it.

Chessable

Use chessable or any website really to learn openings

Play chess with friends

Keeps the game interesting

To improve your situation with a budget of under $1,000, concentrate on high-impact and cost-effective upgrades. You might want to enhance your skills through affordable online courses, invest in tools relevant to your trade, or upgrade your workspace for increased productivity. Additionally, small home improvements such as painting, organization, or landscaping can create a noticeable difference without exceeding your budget.
