blitz seems way harder than rapid

Blitz you can get away with playing weird openings and it catches people out so try that, rapid i find harder as people have longer to think and can spot mistakes. 

me however proudly doesnt play weird openings but still have 2100 blitz rating

Blitz itself is harder obviously in terms of time controls but OP's question is about the respective player pools, and yes, the blitz player pool in the 900-1200 range is many orders of magnitude stronger than the 900-1200 rapid player pool.

This is true on Lichess and other platforms as well. Things apparently start to even out when you get into the higher ranges but that's above my pay grade.

The worst part is 90% of people you play in blitz are like 200-300 points higher in rapid. So theoretically everyone is just underrated. I'm 1300 rapid but can't even stay at 1100 blitz because I get smoked by 1600s in rapid who are 1000 blitz for some reason. 

Blitz is much harder, the player pool is stronger in blitz. A 800 blitz is better than a 1200 rapid.

no you see, the problem is you can't compare different time control pools with others

Some people simply play worse in blitz because they don't play well under time pressure, for example.

If you've played over 50 games, your rating is what your rating is, you're not underrated.

i do think classic chess harder than rapid ,rapid harder than biltz, beacause with more time ,it's hard to play wrong ,you need to be real good to win, 4 hours chess , you still win,that's difficlut
