It's stalemate. The black king cannot move to g2 because that would be check. The Queen would be checking the king there.

Oh wow, that didn't look like a Queen to me, I thought it was a Bishop. I even checked the icons multiple times at the start of the book and didn't see that.. makes sense now, thanks
Hello there chess vets.
I started getting into chess over the holidays and just started reading Bobby Fischer's book "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess", and I simply don't understand the first exercise.
The section from the book is attached. I don't see why it's a stalemate, as Kg2 looks like it would avoid check. If h3, you could simply capture the pawn and threaten his bishop while being safe from it, no? I get that eventually it would be a stalemate because white king would just capture black pawn and you can't capture any of white's pieces if h3 doesn't happen, but in this exact position, it's not yet a stalemate, right?
