bot rating vs human rating

On my YouTube channel Robert Dupuy Chess, and dont worry I have 3 subscribers and most of my videos get zero views, yes I said zero, anyway I have a video on how to defeat Nelson bot 90 percent of the time. I blunder my way through it but I indeed defeat Nelson in one take. 30 minutes…. of course nobody watches this, too long. But authentic 480 elo play… just taking my time and somewhat blundering less often

Gotham chess does videos on defeating Nelson but you have to believe an IM has some intuition on the right moves to make. secret to Nelson is he wastes move after move. Just play solid

I think it's not. I once beat a 2200 rated bot and I felt like it is 500 elo =))

Bots are made to make mistake based on its rating. When the elo increases, the mistakes decrease. So when a high-rated bot makes a significant mistake, you can take advantage and actually beat it although ur elo is lower than it >.<

Bro I play and beat 1500 bots but that player would CRUSH me. Very confused

I can consistanty beat a 1200 bot but my ELO is only 261 rn

I have only played 20 games but this has made me think: are bot ratings unaccurate?

To everyone:

Bot’s ratings are overrated to say the least, or they use a different rating then human player, also I’m guessing that half the people who say they’ve beaten a high rated bot did NOT do it on their first try, I’m not trying to be mean, I’m 1900 and I cannot beat a 2000 bot remotely consistently but have beaten a 2400 bot once after 20+ attempts.

I also think that there might be a difference in playing styles, people who start playing chess against bots seem to beat high rated bots very easily but struggle against humans and people who started by playing humans (like me) struggle to beat bots. I blunder my bishop occasionally on the 6th move of the game (no joke) but against a human it isn’t that difficult to set some traps. There is no such thing with bots, bots do not make bad threats, nor do they fall into any traps.

I totally agree on the difference in playstyles. Bots are basically immune to psychological traps. You can set up the most creative Tal-style trap, but a bot will just scan it and ignore it completely. On the flip side, bots don't feel pressure. A human might panic and crumble under a heavy attack, but a bot will defend perfectly until its internal blunder rate kicks in. That is exactly why the jump from playing bots to real people is so brutal for beginners.
