cool!
Calling all beginners!

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm far from being a "chess master" Maybe "advanced" for how little I've been playing chess and improving well, but titled players are unbelievably good at chess.
Yes, I'm happy to share what I know to help others though. Hopefully, many other stronger rated chess players can help contribute as well

am i allowed to join cuz im intermidiate
Go for it
I'm pretty sure this club was just created as a place to learn.

Actually, how far from "master" are you @B1ZMARK ? Have you considered pursuing a chess title? You are probably only a 100 points off or so I'd say if you don't have a title already. Granted, norms can be a pain, but since you have such a high rating already, it might be worth trying.

my dad's driving ten hours to Chicago at the end of may so I can stop being a 1600 uscf

I feel like its more of a 121 move checkmate with perfectly timed capture in order to avoid the 50 move rule

B1Z is like 1700 USCF lol
Aw dang - that means USCF I'm higher rated than @B1ZMARK but the bad news is that I might get paired against them some day and get crushed in an unfair matchup...good news for me? I don't live near Chicago, so it wouldn't be anytime soon if ever we get paired lol
Good luck @B1ZMARK in your tournament; I'm sure you'll perform well against Class B and Class A players
(p.s. for those unaware, USCF 1600-1800 is Class B and 1800-2000 is Class A)

Lol speaking of classes... I’ve never been a class c player before in my life. Never. I just skipped the entire gap from 1373-1611

Same. I started my first USCF rated event when I was already about 1700 chess.com rating. It was funny because one of my first USCF rated events, I played a 1950-ish player and won. You know what that means...
my provisional rating for USCF begins with +400 for the win, so technically for a super short while, my provisional rating was inflated to about 1950+400 or 2350
Okay sure I lost to a 1700 player the next game and my rating came closer to stabilizing, but I was there for a time everyone

It is a different experience. You won't know just how different online chess is to OTB until you try OTB rated events; they are very different in many ways. On the other hand, chess is still chess. If you do decide to try your first time eventually (which I recommend trying at least a few times), then you will inevitably be nervous, but just try your best and have fun. Enjoy the experience and don't worry about winning as much (although obviously try your best).
