1.Dont let any of ur pieces remain unprotected 2.Careful on discovered checks 3.Dont try to sacrifice(queen,rook etc.)before getting into 1200 elo 4.Happy playing
These are some good tips, but this feels like tips for blitz chess( how to play safe). Some of the basics I follow are, 1. control the center, 2. develop your pieces, 3.Castle your king quickly, 4. Connect the rooks, 5. Take the open/semi-open files with your rooks
