Coach Wanted

Hi. I am a 68-year-old Dyslexic player looking for a coach. My FIDE rating is 1092, and I need to improve my all-around game (opening, middle and endgame). I have three tournaments coming up in April that I need help preparing for.

Is there anyone out there interested?

Hi there!

I’d be happy to help. Preparing for OTB tournaments is very exciting news! Let me know your time zone, general availability, and we can meet up on Chess.com’s classroom and get to work! What fun!

Hi Jordan. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I live in London, so the time zone is GMT. I am, therefore, 6 or 7 hours ahead of you, depending on where you live in the states. As a pensioner, I am free at any time.

Hi Peter!

I'll send you a message later tonight, but London is awesome! I visited there for a couple of days during my Europe tour when I was younger. I'm hoping to eventually take my kids over there sometime in the coming years. happy.png We'll figure out a time that works for us despite the time zone difference, I used to schedule my league matches several years ago with mostly European opponents, so I am used to those time zone differences. We'll be in touch soon!

Thank you, but I know that. However, it isn't easy to find someone who has the patience and understanding when dealing with someone with Dyslexia.

"I am a 68-year-old Dyslexic player" ++ So no books for you.
"looking for a coach" ++ Why a coach? You can do without.
"My FIDE rating is 1092" ++ Then most important is to always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
"I need to improve my all-around game (opening, middle and endgame)."
++ Do not worry about openings. Middle game tactics decide games, not openings.
"I have three tournaments coming up in April that I need help preparing for."
++ The best you can do is play practice games with the same time control against a strong human or engine opponent and then analyse your lost games to learn from your mistakes.

As above...Play long time control games regularly + analyse them, focus on tactics and board vision, and stopping basic errors
