I only played the Wayward queen attack twice and i never ever, a win with mate an
If someone plays kings pawn and it’s a low elo player I would just do Scandinavian or I would put my knight in the way of the pawn the bishop/queen is trying to get
I mean i won with mate and resignation. So now am not doing it because around my rating, it not good to play this opening trap
It also messes up development for the player trying to do it if the other player defends
Once you get to 650 though everyone notices how stupid it is if it makes you feel better

If your opponents play bad moves, you shouldn't complain about it.
Got a scholars mate recently, not by going for it in the first few moves, just left my horse hanging around, moved my queen into danger then appeared to retreat and my opponent (950 ish rating) missed the move. And yes, I did feel smug..
