I had never joined a Chess dot com tournament before.

Today I entered the Rapid 10 | 0.

I already regretted it a bit because in the first pairing I had 945 and was matched with a 1219. I clearly lost. In the second round I faced an 1189 and lost again as expected. Then I got an 845 and won that one.

Seems like rating system working as it should.

I checked the final standings without expecting much, since I finished with a record of 1W 0D 2L.

But to my surprise the top players were absurd. One of them even had an account that later got closed. When I checked the closed account games it was playing with consistent accuracies of 98, 97, 96 on average.

The winner of the event posted 17W 0D 0L. Earlier that same day they played another tournament and scored 10W 0D 1L.

It is an account with 385 games.

This winner started the day at 552 and ended at 801.

Is this normal? Even in a casual open rating tournament with more than four thousand players?
