Check mate*
for beginners
why is this game so depressing - to advance its one step forward then two steps back repeat rerince start again - have played a month now every day - still 100 -- - is there a way to just play people who are 100 ? so i don't feel so stupid every day i play

alicasounis thanks for the pep talk i appreciate it -- but tonight another 15 games not one win justified- think it time to admit- some people are just not meant to play this game -- will try again tomorrow for a while ps. it doesn't matter what opening moves you copy by move 6 i am done tried three different openings tonight not one succeeded to get me past move 10 i lose my queen every time or get check mated

Hi,
Openings aren’t going to win you games so don’t bother spending time watching YouTube videos on some opening or another. You need to organize your thought process towards chess and create a systematic approach to each position. I’d recommend learning the general concepts of opening play, the tactical motifs in chess, and create a mental (or physical if you play Daily chess here!) checklist that you go through each position to help you avoid blunders, capitalize on your opponent blunders, and understand what’s happening in each position. A few key ideas and you’ll be on the road to better chess play and checkmating instead of being checkmated! Want to meet up in a Chess.com Classroom and discuss some chess ideas? Message me and we’ll work a time out.
Oh and don’t sweat losing, you’ll lose thousands of games as you improve your chess, embrace the free lessons from them and keep working on your game!
