Thank you for the replies! I appreciate it!
When would be a good time to take lessons from a coach as a beginner?

In addition to all of that great advice, it also depends on what platform you're going to receive your lessons. Online vs offline: at your level you're most likely to really appreciate some face-to-face coaching. As for online, it depends - is it going to be a one-on-one lesson? Is it going to be a class, and if so, how will everyone interact? Etc.
But whichever platform it is, it all depends on the coach and how they reach out to the student. So I would try it if I were in your shoes, and see what works for you, and what doesn't. Besides, a lesson is always valuable, regardless. Good luck.

I got a coach when I was about 900 level. I found it is money well spent and definitely noticed a difference in my game. The only way to know is to try one out - there are plenty out there and it can be done over Skype. That's how I do it.

I apologise if this is a stupid question. Where I live, in the UK, there are chess clubs to play against other people even if you are in the country. Doesn't this apply elsewhere, e.g. Carson City, Dacca, Maputo etc ?

Not a dumb question. There is clubs around but the closest one to me is about a hour and with my busy schedule the timing just does not work out.

Sorry, I mean getting lessons from a coach? Is it worth it between 700-1000 with all the free resources out there?
It really is. The number of resources isn't considered resources, it's called TMI. A chess coach could really help you if you are 1200 USCF (1400 chess.com). A coach will help you sort through the TMI.

you should be self-teaching/learning. pick up books, theres videos, articles and gameplay to watch all over the place online as well

The bottom line is this: A coach won't hurt, a good one will accelerate your progress.... but what with where you are right now, there's a lot of easy work you can do to get to a higher level before you get a professional involved... A coach (good) coach will be much better value the further along you are, and I think what people are trying to say is that with some tactics drills, endgame basics, a FEW opening studies and a lot of games you'll could be much better than you are now.
I think that's basically the answer to your question.

Hi,I am happy to help..I am 1800 chess player and I am have this question everytime I play with lower rated players.let me tell you ,I stream chess for 1200-1800 rated players where I highlight opening mistakes ,middle game strategy and mindset of other player and solve tactics live with viewers to solve.I also play games with viewers who wants to taste what 1800 rating looks like where as other high rated don't prefer to play or you ll not be eligible to send them challenge. If you think I can help you to reach atleast 1800 rating in chessdotcom like me, drop me a follow on twitch.tv/corporatechessguy for live streaming, send me a friend request on chessdotcom and you can also subscribe to my youtube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=corporatechessguy). Remember you will definitely get better and atleast able to figure out dangers in board when you play with others. Hope to see you around! You can also share with other friends who have interests like you to grow. Thanks!
