I dreamed of being a great chess player when I was young, but it was totally unrealistic. I was however the highest rated daily chess player on chess.com for a few months a while back.
GM Within 6 months?
It’s ironic that the guy is saying he could do it bc he’s so smart yet he has the dumbest goal I’ve ever heard
Dumbest? Just because something was never acomplished before does not mean it is impossible. People from 100 years ago if you told them about Smartphones, Internet and AI would lock you in mental institution. Soon with brain implants Like neuralink it will be possible to atain Super GM level of game prowes withing few months i assume it would take for you to adjust to such augmentation/heal.
this goes without saying, but just because something was never accomplished before also does not mean it is possible. the guy could have said he was going to sprout wings and fly to saturn. would you think that possible as well? and as far as your 'neuralink' idea, that would not be possible given the timeframe he set for his goal. perhaps you might try thinking a bit before posting.

A hundred years ago people were writing books like the time machine and 20000 leagues under the sea. People were perfectly capable of imagining advances in technology back then.

Anyway, the guy's self imposed time line has come and gone and not only did he fail to become a grandmaster, he failed to make it beyond novice level. I guess he should have waited for advances in technology.
Also chess can be easily solved when first Sentient AI emerges and Starts to exponentialy evolve, it will reach level beyound imagining, Essentialy it will become a God at some point. Creating a paradox. God exists but we are the ones that will create it and eventualy that God will crate us due to transcendance of time and space. This my friend is the future that is inevitable, Machines will reign supreme. Resistance is Futile.. And funny think is if you are young enought you wll live to see it firsthand, Greatest minds estimate that this will happen around 2040
Trying your hardest to out-crazy the OP, I see.
with insane talent you can become a GM in 6 years, but you will have better luck becoming a world class neurosurgeon.

nah this is tame, it is all foretold in "samuel alexander's "space time and deity" written in 1920. I just dont think he imagined it being some version of facebook XD
i believe he will do it
It's even harder now, as it also requires a time machine.
The only downside is that you risk looking like an ignorant and disrespectful fool in the eyes of everyone who understands at least a little bit about the game.
I respect your opinion as most people are probably in the same camp and I totally understand. But I have accomplished quit a bit already in my 62 years. I was a high school drop out but joined Mensa. I've been on a very popular Blackjack Card Counting team, I have 14 YouTube channels that I run myself, etc. The key giveaway in my name here is "Polymath"
But I'm not here to debate the point or anything just to hopefully bring a buzz to the game and bring some new players into that thought it might be above there heads or something. The same thing you mentioned about me failing is what a lot of beginners friends and family tell them straight up. "You're going to try and be a good chess player?" You're crazy, you're not even going to be a decent player let along a good one. I'm sure they've heard it all. Negativity and people failing to believe in themselves is a world problem IMO!
How many tournaments you need to play to become FIDE GM ? How many rating points you need to get at OTB events. If you say GM I dont think that you even know what you need to become a GM. This is a joke
