Hello, I am a beginner with a USCF rating of 700. I have just started on my chess journey, and though I know this question is redundant, I would like if any of you recommended me good chess books to study from.

it depends if you want something to "boost performance" or just to appreciate the beauty of chess for fun...

I like the old school 'My System' by Nimzowitsch although it may not be so good for learning the man who wrote it is a nut-job and it's an entertaining read... very... not dry!

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected chess coach and chess author based in California.

-I recommend these two beginner books for you:

1) “50 Poison Pieces”  which is endorsed by Eric Schiller, a famous chess master. You have to figure out why taking an unprotected piece is a mistake. This is a great puzzle book .

 2) “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.”  is endorsed by WGM Jennifer Shahade, FM Jim Eade, and other grandmasters! Readers get to play an entire chess game against a beginner from move one to checkmate. The book is very educational.
