I assume you don't mean chess openings. Traps and openings are two different things....that is, traps may occur in chess openings, but they are not openings per se...
With that understanding, you shouldn't base your chess, or opening play, on playing for traps. Focus instead on understanding fundamental principals of good chess play. That is the path to playing better chess. You can learn these by reading a good introductory book on chess which explains these concepts, for example "Pandolfini's Ultimate Guide to Chess" by Bruce Pandolfini. A good introductory book which does an excellent job of explaining fundamental principles of opening play in particular is "Discovering Chess Openings" by John Emms. Both books are commented on in the following chess.com blog article....
